what not to do when filming...
Whilst filming this clip, we didn't use the technique for the 180 degree rule correctly. We did this wrong because we didn't not stay behind the 180 degree line, this causes the camera to look out of place whilst filming. It also makes the actors look like they're talking to themselves and a conversation isn't flowing. Another filming technique we did wrong was continuity of the door, when the actress was walking in the room the door was wide open, then when the actress was about to close the door the door was at a smaller angle and it looked wrong and out of place. the video below and instructions show how you can do the 180 degree angle properly.
what you should do when filming...
When filming a conversation between two people, you should always try to follow the 180 degree rule. To do this you must create a bisect line down the middle of the two people talking and then select a side of the line to film from. You can change the angle that the camera films from anywhere on that side of the bisect, but you should never cross it. You re effectively drawing a semi circle with your equipment around the subject of your filming. This ensures continuity in your shot and makes it look way more professional. As you can see in the bad version of the video above, when the camera flicks from one side to the other, it makes the two people in the conversation look as though they are speaking to themselves. As a viewer, it's much more engaging to watch when the camera creates a perspective of being stood right infront of the conversation, rather than circling it and swapping sides constantly.

WHAT WENT WELL?
- We filmed all the shots needed for both videos in 50 minutes. This was down to keeping our storyline simple and good planning.
- Our actresses were serious and stayed in role throughout. This shows our choices of casting were good.
- Our videos accurately show how the 180 degree rule is really important.
WHAT WE could IMPROVE...
- We could have added a shot to show the character leaving too.
- We could have maybe tried to link our storyline to our main topic: horror.
