What is our horror?
We have decided to make our horror a Voodoo genre. Because of this we thought we should probably see how the public have responded to other Voodoo films that have previously been released! We tried to do this using Google Trends.
What is google trends?
Google trends is a public web facility that belongs to Google Inc. It is based on GoogleSearch. Google Trends can be used to show how often a particular search-term is entered relative to the total search-volume across various regions of the world, and in various languages.
What films did we research?
We decided to research 'Childs Play' because it is has elements of voodoo activity. This is because it follows many of the stereotypes of Voodoo style films: there is a voodoo doll used to break or harm others around them, there is a commander used to control what happens to the doll. however, we have tried incorporate the theory made by Wes Craven in 1997 about there being a final gile, who typically is always blonde which is what weve used in our trailer,

We also decided that 'Stardust' would be another good film to research for the are reason as 'Chucky'- however, the reason why we have chosen this is again because there is a scene that has voodoo activity in it. It follows many of the same stereotypes; a commander and someone who controls a doll or likes to inflict pain on others.

Here's what we found out about Childs play
This graph shows the interest in 'Childs play' over time. It seems that over the past 3 years it has seen quite a lot of popularity. From this we can infer that 'Childs play' ' is becoming more popular again. we can also infer from this that there has been a rebirth in the interest in traditional Voodoo films and therefore our film would make a large profit.
This map and key shows that the interest in 'Child's Play' globally. It appears that the film is most popular in Vietnam, Italy and Austria. As you can see it's not very popular in the Uk or the USA and this is why we have chosen to use this sub genre because we want people to start to enjoy and watch Voodoo again. This means that if we are trying to change the films people watch then we need to produce something that the UK and the USA are going to enjoy just as much as the other sub genres.
Social context?
Because of how unpopular the Voodoo films are we as a group are going to produce something thats going to make Voodoo popular again.
For example, we will feature people who speak with the same accent as people in the UK, this will make it relatable. We will feature some names and brands that are recognisable to people in these countries.

Here's what we found out about stardust
This graph shows the interest in 'Stardust' over time. It seems that over the past years its popularity has increased and decreased dramatically. In 2015, it seems there has been a large decrease. From this we can infer that there's an opportunity to recapture people's interest in voodoo horrors.
This map and key shows that the interest in 'Stardust' globally. It appears that the film is most popular in Italy. From this we can infer that the producers of 'Stardust' focused on advertising the film the most in this area of the world and this is why it has been so successful. This means that if we are trying to continue in the line of popular for Voodoo horror films, we should focus our efforts on making the film appealing to the British and American people because this is where we would like our opening title sequence to be successful and popular.
social context?
Because of how we want the trailer to be popular in this country, we will advertise it a lot. As the target audiences of most horror films is from 15-25, we will use advertising platforms that will be most likely to reach people of this age. For example- we could set up a Twitter account for the film and start a trending hashtag. We could do similar things on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr. We could create an app for the film, we could show a trailer as a TV advert and also use YouTube as a platform to display it. We think these platforms will be successful because we know that people of the target age group use these things on a daily basis. This means that our film is sure to reach them in more ways than one.
